03 / Sensitivity

Picking a Valorant sensitivity.

In Valorant, the only number that matters is cm/360 — how many centimetres of mousepad it takes to spin 360°. Sensitivity numbers, DPI, and eDPI are just inputs to that calculation; two players with identical cm/360 will aim identically even with completely different DPI and sens values.

Valorant's yaw is fixed at 0.07° per unit. The formula is cm/360 = 360 / (0.07 × sens × DPI / 2.54). At 0.4 sens · 800 DPI that is 25.7 cm. Drop sens to 0.32 and you're at 32.1 cm — wider mouse arcs, slower flicks, easier spray control.

04 / Crosshair

Importing & copying Valorant crosshair codes.

Valorant stores every crosshair as a single string of semicolon-delimited tokens — colour, inner-line length, gap, outline thickness, movement / firing error toggles, all encoded in one paste-able blob. To copy a teammate's crosshair, ask them for their code, then in Valorant go to Settings → Crosshair → Profiles → Import Profile Code, paste, and confirm.

Want to preview a code before committing in-game? Paste it into our crosshair previewer — we parse Valorant's grammar and render the result over a Valorant-style backdrop, so you can A/B against your current crosshair and tweak parameters live.

You can store up to 8 crosshair profiles per account and switch between them with a hotkey (Settings → Controls → Crosshair). Many pros run one tight crosshair for Operator scopes, one wider for Vandal / Phantom, and a dot for shotguns.

05 / Hardware

What your hardware should actually be doing.

Valorant's recommended specs are intentionally modest — GTX 1050 Ti, Ryzen 5 2600, 8 GB RAM — but the game is tightly latency-sensitive and rewards high refresh, high polling, and stable frametimes far more than peak FPS. Test the chain end-to-end with these checks:

  • Polling rate: 1000 Hz minimum for ranked. If you measure 125 or 500 Hz, you have a Bluetooth or low-end mouse — the input-to-screen delay floor is roughly 1 / polling rate.
  • Monitor refresh: 144 Hz minimum, 240 Hz is standard among pros, 360 Hz / 540 Hz the new ceiling. Measure the true rate — Windows can report 240 while delivering 144.
  • Input-lag chain: Combine click latency, frame time at your FPS cap, and monitor response. Sub-30 ms total is the pro range; anything above 50 ms feels delayed.
  • Bufferbloat: Ping under load. If your ping spikes 80+ ms when someone in the house starts a download, you'll lose peeker's-advantage trades you should win.
  • Voice gate: Set noise-gate threshold above your room floor but below your speaking voice. Bad gates either cut your callouts mid-word or let mechanical keyboard noise flood comms.
06 / Troubleshoot

Common Valorant issues, isolated.

  • "Valorant feels delayed compared to my friend's PC." Run the input-lag calculator and the polling test. If polling is under 1000 Hz or your monitor measures lower than its rated Hz, the gap is hardware — not the game.
  • "Sound is muffled / I can't hear footsteps clearly." Run the frequency sweep. Headphones with a steep roll-off above 8 kHz erase the high-frequency content footsteps live in. Stereo channels also: confirm L/R aren't swapped with the stereo test.
  • "Teammates say I sound bad / cut out." Measure noise floor first, then dial the voice gate. Most "cutting out" reports are gates set 3–5 dB above the speaker's actual voice level.
  • "My ranked feels laggy at peak hours." Run continuous ping for 5 minutes and bufferbloat under load. Most home-network lag is bufferbloat, not raw ping.
  • "I keep getting kicked / Vanguard errors." Riot Vanguard is a kernel-level driver. Restart your PC to clear any old service state; if Vanguard refuses to start, uninstall and reinstall it from Windows Settings → Apps. Verify Secure Boot & TPM 2.0 are on — Valorant requires both on Windows 11.
07 / About Valorant

What Valorant is, in one section.

Valorant is a free-to-play 5v5 tactical hero shooter developed and published by Riot Games. It released on 2 June 2020 after a closed beta that broke Twitch viewership records, and runs on a roughly two-week Act cadence with regular Episodes that introduce new agents (characters with unique abilities), maps, and weapon skins.

The PC build runs on a proprietary Riot engine on top of Unreal, ships with the Vanguard kernel anti-cheat (Windows only), and weighs roughly 35–45 GB installed. A native PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S version launched in 2024 with its own matchmaking pool — there is no PC-to-console crossplay, and progression is not shared across platforms.

Competitively, Valorant runs on the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) — three regional leagues (Americas, EMEA, Pacific) feeding into Masters events and a Champions world final each year. Pro settings on this page reflect the most-watched players from those circuits.

08 / FAQ

Valorant — frequently asked.

What is Valorant?

Valorant is a free-to-play 5v5 tactical hero shooter developed and published by Riot Games. It blends precise, low-time-to-kill gunplay reminiscent of Counter-Strike with unique character abilities, on a roster of competitive maps with attack and defence sides.

When did Valorant come out?

Valorant released worldwide on 2 June 2020 after a closed beta that ran from 7 April to 28 May 2020. Riot Games has updated the game continuously since release, on a roughly two-week Act cadence with new Episodes, agents, and maps.

Is Valorant crossplay?

No. Valorant does not support crossplay between PC and console. The PC version (Windows) and the console version (PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S) have separate matchmaking pools, separate ranks, and separate progression — you cannot squad up across platforms.

Is Valorant cross platform?

Account-level progression is not shared between PC and console either. Skins, cosmetics, and battle pass progress on PC do not carry to the console version. Riot has not announced any plans to merge the platforms, citing the input parity required for tactical FPS play.

How do I play Valorant?

Download the Riot Client from playvalorant.com, install Valorant, create a Riot account, and launch the game. New accounts go through unrated and Spike Rush queues until they hit account level 20, then competitive ranked unlocks. The console version is available directly through the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store.

How big is Valorant?

The Valorant install is approximately 35–45 GB on PC depending on patch, language packs, and high-resolution texture options. Console installs run a similar size. Plan for additional headroom for patches — Riot ships frequent updates that can each be 2–8 GB.

How do I uninstall Valorant?

On Windows, uninstall through Settings → Apps → Installed apps, find Valorant, and remove it. To fully remove the anti-cheat, also uninstall Riot Vanguard from the same menu (it is listed as a separate app). Restart your PC afterwards to clear the kernel driver. On console, uninstall from your PS5 or Xbox library as you would any game.

How much have I spent on Valorant?

Riot does not currently expose a built-in 'lifetime spend' counter inside the client. You can audit your spending in two ways: (1) check your purchase history on the Riot Account Management portal, or (2) check the payment provider you used — your card statement, PayPal history, or platform store (PSN / Microsoft) all show line items.

Is Valorant down right now?

Riot publishes a live service-status dashboard at status.riotgames.com that shows incidents per region (Americas, EMEA, AP, KR, BR, LATAM). Twitter/X account @PlayVALORANT also posts maintenance and outage notices. If both report green and you still cannot connect, the issue is usually local — restart the Riot Client and Vanguard service.

How do I copy a crosshair in Valorant?

In Valorant, open Settings → Crosshair → at the bottom click 'Import Profile Code'. Paste the code your teammate or pro shared (Riot's codes look like '0;P;c;1;h;0;m;1;...'). You can also export your own crosshair the same way and share the string. The DeviceCheckOnline crosshair previewer at /gaming/crosshair lets you paste a code and see it rendered live on a Valorant-style backdrop before committing in-game.

How do I get different crosshairs in Valorant?

Valorant supports up to 8 crosshair profiles per account, stored under Settings → Crosshair → Profiles. Each profile has its own colour, dot, inner & outer lines, outlines, movement / firing error toggles, and a sniper-scope crosshair. You can switch between them mid-match with a configurable hotkey (Settings → Controls → Crosshair) — pros commonly bind one profile per gun.

When can I play the new agent (Waylay)?

Waylay is the radiant duelist added in Episode 10. Her release was tied to the start of an Act — players who own the Battle Pass unlock her instantly through a contract; otherwise she costs 1,000 Valorant Points (VP) or can be unlocked free via the standard agent contract (200,000 XP at typical pace). Patch notes on playvalorant.com confirm exact go-live timing per region.

Why does Valorant feel choppy on my system?

Valorant's recommended specs are modest (GTX 1050 Ti / Ryzen 5 2600 / 8 GB RAM) but the game is tightly latency-sensitive. Run DeviceCheckOnline's monitor refresh test, mouse polling rate test, and input-lag chain calculator — most 'feels-off' reports come from a mouse running at 125 Hz, a monitor capped at 60 Hz, or V-Sync introducing a frame of delay.

What sensitivity do Valorant pros use?

Most top Valorant pros sit between 0.30 and 0.45 in-game at 800 DPI, putting eDPI in the 240–360 range and cm/360 between 22 and 38 cm. Lower sensitivities favour spray control and precise long-range duels (Boaster, aspas), higher ones favour reactive flicks (Demon1, ScreaM-style).
