How it works

Every measurement happens client-side, in JavaScript, using browser-standard APIs. The CPU benchmark runs SHA-style hashing in Web Workers across every logical core. The WebGL benchmark ramps triangle count until 60fps breaks. The refresh-rate test samples requestAnimationFrame for five seconds. Network speed hits Cloudflare's public speed endpoint with four parallel streams. Mic noise floor uses Web Audio's AnalyserNode for dBFS measurement.

What browsers cannot do — read CPU temperature, query NVMe SMART, count battery cycles, see the screen — appears as manual follow-ups in every wizard report. You get the digital subset measured automatically, and a checklist for the rest. No half-truths and no upselling.

Results never leave your browser. There is no server-side logging, no analytics pipeline, no account. Reports are generated locally as plain text; you copy or download them yourself.

Frequently asked

About DeviceCheckOnline

What is DeviceCheckOnline?

DeviceCheckOnline is a browser-based diagnostic suite for PCs, laptops, and phones. Press one button — the Hub or a Wizard — and we automatically benchmark your CPU, GPU, memory, storage, network, refresh rate, and battery, then hand you a single report. Or pick any individual tool from the 80+ on this page for a granular check.

How is this different from installing a benchmark like UserBenchmark or 3DMark?

Nothing to install, nothing to sign up for, results in 30-90 seconds instead of 30 minutes. We use standard browser APIs (Web Audio, WebGL, Battery, IndexedDB, Web Workers) — they can't read CPU temperature or NVMe IOPS directly, but for 90% of 'is my device healthy?' questions they're enough and they're instant.

What's the Hub vs a Wizard vs a single tool?

The Hub auto-runs every applicable test for your device profile (PC, laptop, or mobile) in sequence — about 90 seconds end-to-end with one report. A Wizard solves a specific user problem ('my laptop is overheating', 'I dropped my phone', 'is this used phone worth buying') by running a curated subset and giving you a verdict, plus a manual checklist for things the browser can't see. Single tools (mouse polling, dead-pixel check, etc.) are for when you already know what you want to measure.

Do I need to install anything to test my device online?

No. Every diagnostic runs entirely in your browser using standard web APIs. Nothing to download, nothing to install, no account.

Is DeviceCheckOnline really free?

Yes. All tools, all wizards, the Hub — free, no limits, no watermarks, no telemetry.

How accurate are these browser-based device tests?

Each tool documents its methodology. CPU benchmark uses Web Workers with a deterministic hash loop. WebGL benchmark ramps triangle count until 60fps breaks. Refresh rate samples requestAnimationFrame for 5 seconds. Network speed uses Cloudflare's public speed endpoint with 4 parallel streams. Browser-API limits are documented in the Methods page.

Does DeviceCheckOnline collect my data?

No. All results are generated locally and never leave your browser. There's no analytics, no server-side logging, no account. The Hub and wizard reports are generated as plain text in your browser; copy or download them yourself.
