Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
DeviceCheckOnline Labs ("DeviceCheckOnline", "we", "us") operates the website devicecheckonline.com — a free, browser-based suite of online device tests. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Operator: Ashish K Behera, based in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. Contact: /contact.
2. The short version
- The diagnostic tools run entirely in your browser. Your test results (polling rate, WPM, etc.) are stored locally on your device using
localStorageand never transmitted to us. - We do not require an account, collect personal data, or sell anything you do.
- We use Google AdSense to serve advertisements. Google may set cookies and collect data as described in Section 5 below.
- We use privacy-respecting analytics (anonymous, aggregated page views) to understand which tools are most useful. No personal identifiers are stored. (Optional — only if enabled; see Section 4.)
- You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time — see Section 5.
3. What data we collect directly
None that personally identifies you. The diagnostic tools read inputs from your browser APIs (mouse events, keyboard events, audio, screen properties) to perform measurements and display results back to you in real time. Those readings stay on your device.
The following is stored in your browser's localStorage so your
results, preferences, and history persist across visits:
- Personal best scores (e.g. reaction time, WPM, polling rate measurement)
- Last-used device profile on the Hub (PC / laptop / mobile)
- UI preferences (e.g. sensitivity converter game selection)
You can clear all of this at any time by clearing your browser's site data for
devicecheckonline.com.
4. Server-side logs & analytics
Our hosting provider records standard HTTP request logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp) for security, abuse-prevention, and operational diagnostics. These logs are retained for a limited period (typically 30 days) and are not used to build profiles of identifiable users.
We may operate a privacy-respecting, cookieless analytics service to understand aggregate usage (most-visited tools, country-level traffic, referrer category). No personally identifying information is collected by this analytics; no cross-site tracking takes place.
5. Third-party advertising — Google AdSense
This site uses Google AdSense, a third-party advertising service provided by Google LLC, to display advertisements. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the Internet.
Specifically:
- Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies (including the DART cookie) to serve ads on our site.
- Google's use of the DART cookie enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on prior visits to this and other websites on the Internet.
- Users may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- Alternatively, users may opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting aboutads.info or, for EU users, youronlinechoices.eu.
- Google's full advertising privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
Third-party advertisers, ad networks, and ad servers other than Google may also serve advertisements on this site. Their use of cookies and similar technologies is governed by their own privacy policies, not this one.
6. Cookies
This site uses cookies in the following categories:
- Strictly necessary: none — the diagnostic tools function without any cookies.
- Functional (localStorage, not technically a cookie): stores your results, preferences, and history on your device. Cleared via your browser settings.
- Advertising: set by Google AdSense and its partners (see Section 5).
You can refuse cookies via your browser settings; doing so will not affect the diagnostic tools themselves but may affect ad relevance.
7. Your rights (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA)
If you reside in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California, you have the following rights regarding personal data we may hold about you:
- The right to access, correct, or delete your personal data
- The right to restrict or object to processing
- The right to data portability
- The right to withdraw consent at any time (where processing is based on consent)
- The right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority
Because we do not collect personally identifying information directly, most of these rights are exercised by managing your browser's storage and the third-party opt-outs in Section 5. For any other request, contact us at /contact.
California residents (CCPA): we do not sell personal information. Third-party advertising partners may use cookies that, under broad CCPA definitions, could be considered a "sale" — use the opt-outs in Section 5 to limit this.
8. Children's privacy
DeviceCheckOnline is not directed at children under 13 (or 16 in the EEA / UK). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided information to us, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Data retention
Server logs: typically 30 days. Locally-stored test data: until you clear your browser data. Advertising cookies: as set by Google and its partners (see their respective policies).
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the current version. Material changes will be flagged on the homepage.
