My battery sucks.

Unplug, press start. We sample your battery level, hammer the CPU briefly, then resample to estimate discharge rate under load — plus check whether radios are working against you.

Notes

The discharge probe runs for 60 seconds. Keep the device unplugged. Browser battery API is not exposed on Firefox or iOS — those will mark battery as 'unsupported'.

    • Cellular signal strength

Open Settings → Cellular / Mobile. A phone in 1-bar coverage burns 3-5× the battery hunting for towers. If signal is weak, switching off 5G (5G phones) or enabling Airplane mode when not needed will help.

    • Background app refresh

iOS: Settings → General → Background App Refresh → Off (or only essential apps). Android: Settings → Apps → see which apps used battery — disable background for the offenders.

    • Brightness + always-on display

100% brightness drains 2-3× compared to 50%. Always-on display adds 5-10% per day on its own. Disable both if every minute counts.

    • Battery health check

iOS Battery Health under 80% = throttling kicked in, replace. Android: install AccuBattery for a similar estimate.

    Frequently asked

Why is my battery draining so fast?

Most common: weak cellular signal (phone burns power hunting for towers), 5G enabled in poor coverage, a rogue background app, screen at 100% brightness, or a battery past 80% original capacity.

What's a healthy discharge rate at idle?

Modern phones lose < 1% per hour at idle, screen off. Anything over 2% per hour points to a wakelock-leaking app or a swollen battery.

Should I get my battery replaced?

If iOS Battery Health shows under 80% max capacity, yes — Apple's replacement makes the phone feel new. On Android, AccuBattery estimates capacity; under 75% is replacement territory.
