dBFS
Decibels relative to full-scale — the digital-audio ceiling.
0 dBFS is the loudest a digital signal can be without clipping. Everything is negative. A signal at −12 dBFS is 12 dB below the ceiling; one at −60 dBFS is near silence. Different from acoustic dB-SPL (which measures sound pressure in air) and from LUFS (which weights for perceived loudness). Audio peak meters and noise-floor measurements use dBFS.
